Trade and expansion

In the name of trade, the Dutch empire once spanned the globe and conquered possesions in the Americas (East Indies), Africa and Asia (West Indies). When we have to name a year the golden age started, it must be 1602, the year the 'Vereenigde Oostindische Compagne' (Dutch Eastindia Company) was founded.
